LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Little Rock head baseball coach
Chris Curry has announced the promotion of
Noah Sanders to Associate Head Coach for the Trojan baseball program.
Â
"
Noah Sanders is the definition of loyal," said Curry. "He has done so many things behind the scenes these past six years to ensure we have a program that competes at the highest level. Noah does a great job with our offense, on the recruiting trail and in the office to make sure all the details are covered. I am grateful for his work ethic and leadership skills and I'm excited to be able to promote him to Associate Head Coach."
Â
Sanders is entering his sixth year with the Trojans, coming to Little Rock in 2018 as an assistant coach before taking on the responsibility of recruiting coordinator for the past three seasons. Sanders has held an emphasis on guiding the Trojan offense with a primary focus on hitting and baserunning.
Â
In the 2022 season he helped lead the Trojans to some of the best offensive numbers during his tenure, including a team batting average of .286, an OPS of .805 and the lowest number of team strike outs since 2016. That effort was led by
Canyon McWilliams ranking second in the Sun Belt with a .382 batting average, the ninth-best in program history, with
Noah Dickerson ranking eighth with a .354 mark.
He also has helped the program in a big way on the basepaths as the 2022 Little Rock team nabbed 68 bags on the year, the most since 2014.
Tyler Williams paced the Trojans with 21 on the year, tied for third in the Sun Belt.
Â
Since Sanders arrived at Little Rock in 2018, he has helped recruit many players to the program, officially gaining the title of recruiting coordinator in 2020. Since then, there have been four MLB draftees with several other players signing professional baseball contracts. Sanders has also helped mentor a pair of All-Sun Belt hitters during his time in Little Rock, including first team honoree Riley Pittman in 2019 and second team selection
Noah Dickerson in 2022.
Â
Sanders is the second-longest tenured coach on the Little Rock baseball program as 2023 will be his sixth season along side coach Curry. A graduate of UA-Monticello, Sanders previously coached the Boll Weevils as well as stops at Crowder College and Arkansas State before joining the Trojans.
