MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Little Rock's
Gabrielle Spankus was recognized Sunday as the true freshman was named to the Bluff City Showdown All-Tournament Team following her performance over the weekend in Memphis.
Spankus led the Trojans with 57 assists – averaging 5.70 per set – and totaled 20 digs, eight kills, five blocks and a service ace. Her .129 hitting percentage was among the best on the team as the multi-faceted player recorded the fewest number of hitting errors for any Trojan with over 30 attempts.
The Florida native recorded career highs in kills (7), hitting percentage (.211) and blocks (3) in the weekend finale against Memphis Saturday after a career-high 34 assists against Arkansas-Pine Bluff Friday afternoon.
She finished the weekend scoring 11.5 points with eight kills, one ace and five block assists.
Spankus and the Trojans are now preparing for their home opener as well as the team's first-ever Ohio Valley Conference game as Little Rock hosts UT Martin on Friday and Saturday at the Jack Stephens Center.
