TORRANCE, Calif. – Shaving over 10 seconds off his career-best time,
Josh Beam ran an impressive 9:02.82 in the 3,000m Steeplechase to post the second-best time in school history as he finished fifth at the Mt. SAC Relays late Thursday.
Â
Racing past competitors from Texas A&M and Texas, Beam was over 10 seconds faster than his previous career-best time and registered the second-fastest time a Trojan runner has ever clocked in the event. Only Jonathan Cherono's time of 9:00.42 back in 2009 has been faster.
Â
The mark pushes Beam up to 38
th on the NCAA's West Prelims performance list and puts the Trojan distance runner in the conversation for the postseason. It also marks the fastest steeplechase time an Ohio Valley Conference runner has registered since 2021.
Â
Action at the Mt. SAC Relays resumes Friday while the Sooner Invite and Multis gets underway in Norman, Oklahoma with Little Rock competing in the multis.
