Gabby Ayiteyfio Smashes School Record in Heptathlon

Trojan sophomore posts OVC’s best heptathlon score since 2019

NORMAN, Okla. and WALNUT, Calif. – Little Rock sophomore Gabby Ayiteyfio posted the Ohio Valley Conference's best heptathlon score since 2019 and smashed the school record on the final day of competition at the Sooner Invite and Multis.

Ayiteyfio became the first Trojan to surpass the 5,000-point threshold, scoring 5,167 points on her way to a silver medal finish in Norman. Topping the old school record by 555 points, the sophomore now ranks 29th in the nation in the heptathlon.

She finished only 615 points behind Oklahoma's Pippi Lotta Enok, the bronze medalist in the pentathlon at the NCAA Indoor Championships just a month ago.

To set the school record, Ayiteyfio posted an 18-1 (5.51m) mark in the long jump, threw the javelin 114-0 (34.76m) and ran 2:35.91 in the 800m run.

Over in California, Nick Newby clocked 1:53.65 to finish 16th in the 800m Elite Invitational run.

The Trojans are back in action in the Natural State on April 20-21 as Little Rock's Team heads to Fayetteville to compete in the John McDonnell Invitational.
