Anton Albers Named a Finalist for 2023 Byron Nelson Award

The award is presented annually to the outstanding scholar-athlete of the year

NORMAN, Okla. – Following a record breaking senior season, Anton Albers has been named a finalist for the 2023 Byron Nelson Award. The Byron Nelson Award is one of the highest honors in collegiate golf and is presented annually by the Golf Coaches Association of America. The 2023 Byron Nelson Award will be presented by the GCAA, in partnership with the Salesmanship Club of Dallas, will be presented on May 10 at the AT&T Byron Nelson Luncheon at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas.

Albers, the three-time Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar from Buchholz, Germany, boast an impressive 3.97 GPA and will graduate in May with a degree in business finance. In addition to his winning work ethic in the classroom and on the golf course, Albers also manages to interact with local business leaders and ciy representatives in Little Rock at various business leader community luncheons and council meetings to learn more about his local community. Albers has also volunteered at Pleasant Valley Country Club and First Tee of Central Arkansas where he helped with skilled instruction and both caddied and played with the juniors in the programs.

Albers was named the 2022 Sunbelt Conference Golfer of the Year prior to the Trojans' move to the Ohio Valley Conference for the 2022-23 season. He is set to compete for Little Rock at the Trojans' first OVC Championship following a stellar 2022-23 regular season where he tied the program record for career wins (4) after claiming the top spot at the Louisiana Classics back in March

Anton was one of five golfers from all of Division I Golf to be named a finalist for the award, with the other finalists being Beck Burnette (Lee), Palmer Jackson (Notre Dame), David Nyfjäll (Northwestern), and Matthew Reidel (Vanderbilt). The Byron Nelson Award is to awarded annually the outstanding Division I, II, III, or NAIA scholar-athlete of the year. The recipient, a graduating senior, is recognized for his achievement in the classroom, on the course, and in his community.
