BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Little Rock athletes
Janae Largins,
TaVieon Neal and
Takia Palmer combined to receive four awards Wednesday as the Ohio Valley Conference announced its weekly track and field awards.
Â
The OVC recognized Largins as the league's Female Field Athlete of the Week, Neal claimed Male Track Athlete of the Week honors while Palmer was named the conference's Female Track and Female Freshman of the Week.

Â
Largins set a new career-best mark in the shot put last weekend as she claimed the bronze medal at the John McDonnell Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas. With a throw of 13.62m (44-8.25), Largins posted the fourth-best throw in school history while moving up to No. 2 on the OVC's performance list this season.

Â
Neal became the Fastest Man in Arkansas this year after blistering down the straightaway for a 10.26 wind-legal time as he won the 100m dash at the John McDonnell Invitational in Fayetteville last weekend. Posting the third-fastest time in school history and fastest 100m dash time by an OVC sprinter in over a decade, Neal now ranks 48th in the nation in the 100m dash and is listed at No. 17 on the NCAA West Prelims Performance List. With his performance, Neal shot past all 100m dash sprinters from the Arkansas Razorbacks with a time that is nearly 0.1 seconds faster than the top Razorback sprinter … or anyone else in the state. Neal also was the second leg of the 4x100m relay that finished fourth with a time of 41.70 despite being interfered with by other teams, resulting in both of their disqualification.

Â

Â
Takia Palmer ran the fastest 100m dash time clocked by a freshman this year when she ran 11.85 to finish eighth at the John McDonnell Invitational last weekend. Posting the fourth-fastest overall time in the OVC this year, Palmer finished eighth in the meet but was only beaten by teammate
Landri Schreier and athletes from both the Razorbacks and Team USA. Palmer's time is a season-best mark and is the fastest by an OVC freshman by 0.15 seconds. She also ran the second leg of the 4x100m Relay that clocked 46.29, the ninth-fastest time in school history. That relay would rank third in the OVC this season if she wasn't already part of the squad that ran 45.40 earlier this season.
Â
Little Rock is splitting squads this week with several athletes heading to Tennessee for the Memphis Invitational while a handful of athletes are going to Jacksonville, Florida for the East Coast Relays.
