BATH, Mich – After a record-setting year, Little Rock's 2022-23 season comes to a close following a ninth place finish at the 2023 NCAA Bath Regional.

The Trojans started the day in eighth, five shots back from Florida and Kansas State, tied for sixth, and 12 back from fifth place Michigan State, but Little Rock struggled to find their footing in the final round, ending the day 11-over 295 and the tournament at 12-over 864.

The best round of the day came from
Anton Albers, who carded a 1-over 72 and finished the regional tied for 39
th at 4-over 217 (71-74-72). Albers was second to
Jansen Smith, the top finisher for the Trojans, who tied for 29
th after he shot a 3-over 74 to bring his 54-hole total to 1-over 214.

Magnus Lomholt rose up the individual leaderboard a few spots in the final round after scoring a 2-over 73, giving him a 5-over 218 for the vent and placing him tied for 42
nd.
Archie Smith and
Nico Horder finished tied for 54
th, each with a a 7-over 220 after carding a 5-over 76 and 8-over 79, respectively.

Six-seed Georgia completed a dominant upset, claiming the team title with a 29-under 823, eight strokes better than top-seeded Illinois (21-under 831). Oregon finished third (14-under 838), followed by Florida (12-under 840). Texas (10-under 842) rounded out the top-five teams moving on to the NCAA Championships in Scottsdale, Ariz. May 26-June 1 at Grayhawk Golf Club.

Although not the ending he Trojans had in mind for the 2022-23 season, the year did feature many notable moments, including a conference championship win in their first year with the Ohio Valley Conference. The Trojans won four team events in 2022-23, including the 2023 OVC Championship, which came with accolades for
Jansen Smith, OVC Player of the Year, and
Jake Harrington as Coach of the Year. Little Rock also had five all-conference honorees (
Anton Albers,
Matteo Cristoni,
Magnus Lomholt,
Jansen Smith, and
Archie Smith) and Albers was named a finalist for the 2023 Byron Nelson Award, presented annually to the outstanding Division I, II, III, or NAIA scholar-athlete of the year.Â

Little Rock ends the year with a team scoring average of 286.59, surpassing the previous program record off 286.97 set during the 2018-19 season. Additionally, with this week's performance,
Jansen Smith is positioned to claim the career scoring average record for the Trojans as he currently boasts a 72.31, just past Daniel Fox's 72.32. The Trojans will now adjust their focus to building up for next year, continuing to set the standard for golf in the OVC and earn themselves another NCAA post-season bid. Â
