BRENTWOOD, Tenn. - The Little Rock Track and Field teams had athletes honored with Ohio Valley Conference weekly honors released today.
Troy McKnight,
Landri Schreier,
Aaliyah Mathis,
Gabriel Torres, and
Layloni Watson were honored after their performances at the Bison Open this past weekend as the Trojans swept all but one weekly award.
McKnight was named the OVC Male Track Athlete of the Week after winning the 100m at the Bison Open with a time of 10.41 ranking him first in the OVC. The Irving, Texas-native also placed first with the 4x100m relay team that recorded a time of 40.18 to rank them first in the OVC and 64th in the nation.
Schreier was named the OVC Female Track Athlete of the Week after setting the school record in the 100m at the Bison Open with a personal best time of 11.55 to rank her first in the OVC. The Midlothian, Texas-native also placed first with the 4x100m relay team in 46.26 and second in the 200m in 24.43 to rank her second in the OVC.
Mathis was named the OVC Female Field Athlete of the Week after setting the school record in the discus besting her previous mark with a throw of 161-11 (49.35m) ranking her first in the OVC. The Humble, Texas-native also won the shot put with a mark of 46-0 (14.02m).
Torres was awarded his second OVC Male Freshman of the Week after placing second in the 100m with a time of 10.49 to rank him second in the OVC. The Arlington, Tenn.-native also placed first with the 4x100m relay team with a time of 40.18 to rank them first in the OVC.
Watson earned OVC Female Freshman of the Week honors after winning the triple jump at the Bison Open with a personal best jump of 40-7.5 (12.38m) ranking her first in the OVC and second in school records. The Temple, Texas-native also placed eighth in the long jump with a distance of 17-9.75 (5.43m).
