Little Rock Baseball Continues OVC Play with a Weekend Series Against UT Martin

Trojans will play the Skyhawks in Martin, Tennessee for a chance to claim the number 1 spot in the OVC

LITTLE ROCK- The Little Rock Baseball team is in a three-way tie for first place in the conference with Tennessee Tech and SEMO. The Trojans look to stake their claim at the top of the conference this weekend with a series at UT Martin. 

Series History
Little Rock and UT Martin have met 35 times dating back to the first match up in 1998. Since then, the Trojans have amassed a 27-8 record with the most recent meeting being a 3-game conference sweep last season. Little Rock won all three games last year with scores of 5-4, 8-3, and 4-2. The Trojans will look to extend the current 8-game win streak against UT Martin. 

Scouting UT Martin
UT Martin enters the weekend 4-5 in conference play and fresh off a 1-2 series loss against SIU Edwardsville. Currently, 5 Skyhawks are hitting to an average over .300: Smith (.333), Rice (.314), Bell (.312), Smith (.307), Fernandez (.306). As a team, UT Martin hits to a .287 average scoring 224 runs on 332 hits, 41 home runs, 207 RBI, 139 walks, and 282 strikeouts. On the mound, the Skyhawks hold a 6.57 ERA conceding 261 runs on 316 hits, 172 walks, and 203 strikeouts.

What to Expect
The Trojans come into the weekend following a series victory over SEMO going 2-1. Nico Baumbach is the lone Trojan hitting over .300 with a .313 batting average. As a team, Little Rock hits a .258 batting average scoring 156 runs on 273 hits, 146 RBI, 24 home runs, 101 walks, and 245 strikeouts. On the mound, Hoss Brewer has thrown an OVC high 59 strikeouts adding to his 2.44 ERA. Erik Mcknight (2.45), Jacob Weatherley (2.70), and Austin Stubber (2.96) have all recorded sub 3.0 ERA. As a team, the Trojans have recorded a 5.74 ERA conceding 202 runs on 276 hits, 33 home runs, 156 walks, and 302 strikeouts.

Little Rock is set to play 3 games this weekend against UT Martin Friday at 5 p.m., Saturday at 3 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m. All games will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats will be provided.
