Smith will compete as one of five individuals to qualify in the Baton Rouge Regional, hosted by LSU. A total of 14 teams – Auburn, Virginia, Texas Tech, Oregon, Duke, Ohio State, LSU, Louisville, Houston, South Carolina, Lipscomb, Yale, Loyola Maryland, and Arkansas-Pine Bluff – will compete for one of five team berths at the national event.
Smith shot three consecutive rounds of below-par golf at Muscle Shoals, Alabama to finish 7-under and win the OVC individual title by five strokes. His individual win comes with an automatic berth in the NCAA's if the team does not qualify. He made 12 birdies, and eagle and 34 pars over the course of three days.
This is the fourth consecutive year the Little Rock Men's Golf team will be represented at the NCAA's, having advanced as a team from 2021-23 and now with an individual qualifier in 2024, and the seventh appearance overall (1999-2001, 2021-2024).
The University Club at LSU is a 7,700-yard Par 72 championship-caliber course featuring some of the toughest Par 3 holes in the state of Louisiana with a number of challenging water hazards. The field includes five of the Top 25 teams in the nation, including top-ranked Auburn, #12 Virginia, #14 Texas Tech, #24 Oregon, and #25 Duke.
