LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Little Rock Athletic Department's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has named their Sportsmanship Student-Athlete of the Year.
Dion Murombe, a member of the men's track and field team, earned the honor for the entire academic year.
SAAC voted on the teammate that had the best sportsmanship.
What student-athletes said about Dion:
- Dion is the most involved and encouraging person I know when it comes to supporting his teammates as well as other sports at their competitions.
- Dion has been working with athletes from each sport to support and motivate them to fulfill Trojan Spirit.
- Dion is the ultimate teammate who exemplifies what sportsmanship is all about. He is always motivating and encouraging teammates, and he even cheers and encourages the competition in meets.
Little Rock's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is a committee made up of student-athletes assembled to provide insight on their experience. These student-athletes also offer input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes' lives on Little Rock's campus. Members of Little Rock's SAAC have the opportunity to address issues affecting student-athletes at their institution or in their conference; furthermore, members have the opportunity to offer input on issues that may be national in scope.
Through the grass-roots efforts of the campus SAACs communicating with the conference SAACs, and the conference SAACs communicating with the national SAAC, student-athletes have the opportunity to change the face of intercollegiate athletics.
