LITTLE ROCK — The Little Rock Women's Golf team earned a Team Academic Achievement Award from the Ohio Valley Conference on Tuesday, the final day of academic award announcements from the OVC.
Â
The team awards are presented annually in each Conference-sponsored sport to the member institution's team with the greatest percentage of its eligible student-athletes who achieved a 3.25 grade point average or higher. Little Rock finished the 2023-24 academic year with a 3.88 GPA, including a 3.92 mark during the spring. Five of the six athletes made the Chancellor's List, while the other landed on the Dean's List during the year.
Â
"This has been an extraordinary year for the Trojan Women's Golf program," said Frank M. Cuervo, Little Rock Director of Athletics. "On the course, they raised the bar by winning the OVC Championship and competing in the NCAA Women's Golf Championships for the first time in school history. Now, in the classroom, they are being honored for their exceptional achievements as scholar-athletes. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Coach
Jenna Birch and the entire team for their remarkable accomplishments."
Â
Four of the six team members –
Eleonore Aernouts,
Katja Mueller,
Viktoria Krnacova, and
Fehild Graesel – were also selected as WGCA All-American Scholars after maintaining overall cumulative GPAs of 3.5 or higher.
Â
The Trojans were also highly successful on the course, capturing the program's first conference championship since 1999 and advancing to the NCAA Championships.
