Trojans Battle No. 9 Oklahoma, Show Depth and Resilience on the Road

NORMAN, Okla. — Facing one of the nation's top teams in a tough road environment, Little Rock continued to show growth and competitive fire Thursday night, taking on No. 9 Oklahoma at the Lloyd Noble Center. The Trojans dropped the contest 103–48, but not before showcasing encouraging stretches of toughness, energy on the glass, and quality minutes from multiple contributors.

"We played well at times in the first half," Little Rock head coach Steve Wiedower said. "Oklahoma is a different team — we saw that on film. They can hurt you inside and out. But we never quit."

Mya Cotto delivered one of her better performances of the season, scoring 11 points with three made threes while adding five rebounds and a steal. Jordan Holman, an Oklahoma native, also finished with 11 points, getting to the line consistently and knocking down five free throws to go with two steals.

Destinee Salgado brought instant energy in the paint, scoring eight points and grabbing five rebounds, including four on the offensive end. Alaina Payne added six points and three boards, and Taelor Coxford provided four rebounds off the bench as the Trojans continued to show their ability to win second-chance opportunities — grabbing 16 offensive boards against one of the country's most physical frontcourts.

Defensively, Little Rock forced nine steals and held Oklahoma to just 13 points in the final quarter, the Sooners' lowest-scoring period of the night. Several Trojans stepped up throughout the rotation, with 11 different players recording rebounds and eight scoring.

The Trojans now begin Ohio Valley Conference play traveling to Morehead State next Tuesday and Southern Indiana on Thursday.

"Our focus is on Morehead State, and we'll go home and get ready for them," Wiedower said. "We're really excited about the conference season, and we'll be ready Tuesday night."
