Little Rock Opens OVC Play with 76–63 Win at Morehead State

MOREHEAD, Ky. — Powered by a dominant night from Jordan Holman and a career-best performance from Brenna Burk, Little Rock opened Ohio Valley Conference play in emphatic fashion Tuesday night, pulling away for a 76–63 road win over Morehead State at Johnson Arena.

The Trojans (4–6, 1–0 OVC) used a balanced offensive attack and timely defense to control the game, outscoring the Eagles (4–7, 0–1 OVC) in each of the final three quarters. After taking a 31–23 lead into halftime, Little Rock steadily extended its advantage behind efficient shooting and active play on both ends of the floor.

Holman led all scorers with 25 points, her fifth 20+ point game of the season, to go along with eight rebounds and three blocks, while Burk posted a career-high 21 points, knocking down five 3-pointers. Mya Cotto added 11 points and seven rebounds, and Alaina Payne and Jarahle Daniels helped pace the offense, combining for eight assists as Little Rock finished with 15 assists on the night.

"First conference game to make a statement, it was especially huge winning on the road," Burk said. "It was a great team win, and I'm very excited."

With the game tightening late in the fourth quarter, Little Rock delivered the decisive blows from beyond the arc. Cotto buried a clutch 3-pointer to push the Trojans' lead back to six points, and moments later Holman followed with a deep triple of her own, silencing the home crowd and effectively sealing the road win.

"We're glad to get this win. Any time you can win on the road is good," head coach Steve Wiedower said. "We had a great effort on the defensive end. As the game went on, I felt like we got better each quarter. We hit some big 3s, and we need to keep that going."

Little Rock shot 40.6% from the field and connected on 10 3-pointers, while also winning the rebounding battle, 39–31. The Trojans' defense held Morehead State to just three made 3s and forced 14 turnovers.

Little Rock returns to action Thursday when the Trojans face Southern Indiana in Evansville at 5 p.m. Little Rock swept the Screaming Eagles last season and will look to continue its strong start to OVC play.
