The Warhawks (9-14) enter the contest on a five-game skid and their Sun Belt Conference record dropped to 1-5 after a three-game sweep at the hands of No. 19 Southern Miss at. home last weekend. ULM dropped its first SBC series at James Madison. The Warhawks lost the first game on March 14, 10-4, and then split a doubleheader the next day. They won 9-3 in the opener and dropped a 6-5 decision in 11 innings to the Dukes in the nightcap.
Also included in the losing skid is a 6-2 loss at nearby Louisiana Tech last Tuesday.
Little Rock (9-15, 0-3 Ohio Valley Conference) bested ULM, 5-3, on Feb. 23 in front of nearly 1,000 fans in Monroe, La.
Ryan Geck totaled two hits and notched an RBI as did
Cooper Chaplain and
Jackson Rains chipped in an RBI. The Trojans took a 3-0 lead in the third inning and led 4-0 before surrendering three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Geck's RBI single gave the Trojans an insurance run in the top of the seventh, and the Warhawks were unable to push any other runs across.
Preston Davis took the win for the Trojans. He gave up just one hit and struck out seven in 3.2 innings of work.
Little Rock is looking to get back on track after dropping its first Ohio Valley Conference series to Tennessee Tech last weekend. The Trojans travel to Evansville, Ind., Friday to take on Southern Indiana for a three-game set. The Screaming Eagles (10-13, 2-1) play at Ball State Tuesday night.
