STANFORD, CA. — The Little Rock Men's Golf Team walks away from a full week of match play to take the individual title for freshman Freddie Turnell and tied for 13th overall at The Goodwin to round out an action-packed week.
The Trojans posted a final-round score of 283, putting them with a total score of 855 (+15) to tie for 13 overall. #15 UCLA took home the title scoring 829 (-11), #32 Colorado and #34 Northwestern rounded out the top 3.
"Not the week we wanted at all as a team and we have major work to be done the next week and a half, but what an unbelievable win for Freddie! 4-under on the final nine holes to tie for the win and win in the tiebreaker with the low final round. This is the biggest individual win in program history and continues an incredible run for Freddie this spring. I am so happy and proud of Freddie. He works incredibly hard and after coming up just short at The Prestige it was great to see him get the win today! Rhett also had a great final round today on a tough golf course and Matteo did a solid job of grinding it out without his best golf to finish T12th."- said head coach Austin Eoff.
"We have a week and a half off to get ready for Iowa and then make a post-season push. We have multiple guys playing well we have just got to piece it together and find a final guy for the lineup. We cannot compete with the best teams in the country with 4 players."
FINAL RESULTS | ROUND 3
Freshman Freddie Turnell made history with the biggest individual win in school history, tying for first and winning the individual title of The Goodwin at his first showing at the tournament. An eagle and four birdies highlighted his unstoppable final day on the course to take him to the title, carding a 69-70-66 to tally 205 (-5) and lead him to the individual championship.
Matteo Cristoni ended out T12th shooting 72 to put him at 1-under (205) for his final day. Rhett South came in carding a 68 (-2), shooting an eagle matching Turnell on hole 1 to set him tied for 67th with 217 (+7).
Phisher Phillips made back-to-back rounds of 77 (+7) to round out the scoring Trojans for the day and place him 157th overall with a final score of 231 (+21).
Senior Archie Smith rounded out his final play with 228 (+18) to tie for 137th overall.
Individual:
Ed Featherstone shot 76 (+6) to total 217 (+7), placing him 67th overall.
