MOREHEAD, Ken. – Little Rock clinched a series victory over Morehead State with a 6-1 win Saturday afternoon.
The Trojans, who are riding a four-game winning streak, go for the sweep Sunday when the teams meet in the series finale at noon. The game can be streamed on ESPN+.
Little Rock (14-19, 4-6) took a 3-0 first-inning lead and never relinquished the advantage.
Starting pitcher
Jack Cline didn't need much run support as he scattered six hits over six innings while striking out four and walking one.
Ty Rhoades, who was 1-for-3, gave the Trojans the lead in the first inning with a two-run double.
Cooper Chaplain followed with a base hit that scored Rhoades on a fielding error.
Little Rock took a 4-0 lead in the fourth inning when
Sammy Harris, who was 2-for-5, grounded out into a double play scoring a run.
Alex Seguine, who was 2-for-5, added to the advantage when his ground out scored a run in the sixth inning.
After Morehead State (10-21, 1-9) cut the lead to 5-1 on a home run in the eighth, Harris got the run back in the ninth with a single. The base hit scored
Reed Willbanks, who led off the frame with a bunt single.
Gage Haley finished the game off on the mound with three strong innings giving up four hits and walking one and striking out two. He was credited with his first save of the season.
