Little Rock Men's Golf Heads to Auburn Regional After OVC Title Win

AUBURN, AL. -The Little Rock Trojans men's golf team is back in the NCAA postseason and eyeing a strong showing at the Auburn Regional after capturing their second Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) championship in three seasons. Set to compete as the No. 8 seed, the Trojans will tee it up May 12–14 at the Auburn University Club in Alabama.

"Looking forward to a good week here in Auburn," said head coach Austin Eoff. "Mother Nature didn't fully cooperate today but we will be ready to go tomorrow! I think the golf course will play tough and playing smart and keeping the ball in front of you will be the key to playing well and stringing together some pars."

The team's arrival in Auburn has already been met with unpredictable weather, as the official practice round was rained out. There's still a chance for inclement conditions during tournament play, but the atmosphere remains optimistic for a competitive and exciting few days of golf.

The Trojans earned their spot in the regional with a thrilling 3–2 victory over UT Martin in the finals of the OVC Championship in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Senior Matteo Cristoni delivered the decisive moment, sinking a clutch birdie putt on the final hole to secure the win and an automatic NCAA bid for Little Rock.

Now, they'll face off against a strong field that includes host and top seed Auburn, as well as Texas A&M, UCLA, SMU, Georgia Tech, Oregon, and Purdue—Eoff's alma mater. The top five teams and the lowest individual not on an advancing team will move on to the NCAA National Championship in Carlsbad, California, later this month.

Senior Archie Smith expressed the team's confidence heading into the week. "Everyone feels good, our games are in good shape," he said. "I'm excited to play my last regionals here with the team. It's been a fun four years making postseason every year. We're excited to get going and make some noise."

The Auburn Regional presents a formidable test for the Trojans, featuring one of the deepest and most competitive fields in the country. Headlining the regional is top-seeded and defending NCAA champion Auburn, a powerhouse on its home turf with a roster stacked with elite talent. Alongside the Tigers are national contenders like Texas A&M, UCLA, SMU, and Georgia Tech—all programs consistently ranked among the top 25. Oregon, Purdue, TCU, and College of Charleston add even more depth, with each team bringing postseason experience and individual star power.

The regional appearance marks another milestone for Eoff in his second season at the helm. Facing Purdue, where he was both a standout player and assistant coach, adds a personal layer to the week, but the focus remains on his current squad and building on their success.

The Trojans will tee off at 8:25 a.m. ( Central Time).
