LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Senior
Jackson Wells delivered his most dominant pitching performance of the season when the Trojans needed it most, not only lifting Little Rock to an 11-4 win over UT Martin on Saturday, but now earning Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week honors. Wells is the third player and second pitcher from Little Rock to win OVC weekly honors this season.
The 5-11, 200-pound righty from Rogers tied his single-game career best with nine strikeouts while picking up the win over the Skyhawks. Wells went 5.1 innings on a total of 99 pitches and gave up just three hits and a single earned run. He threw four straight hitless innings to open the contest. His nine strikeouts also matched his highest total of the season.
Wells leads the OVC in strikeouts during conference play (46) and for the entire season (76) and is ninth in innings pitched (64.2). He's also among the Top 10 in Little Rock program history in starts (4
th), innings pitched (7
th), wins (6
th), strikeouts (8
th), and career win percentage (5
th). Wells was also named OVC Pitcher of the Week twice (April 24 and May 15) during the 2023 season.
