AUBURN, Ala. – The Little Rock men's golf team heads into the final round of the NCAA Auburn Regional with momentum to build on, sitting in ninth place at 15-over par after two rounds at the Auburn University Club.
Tuesday brought its share of challenges, but the Trojans battled through with determination. Matteo Cristoni led the scoring with a composed round of 73 (+1), highlighted by three birdies, and currently stands tied for 24th individually at two-over for the tournament.
Freddie Turnell played a key role in setting the tone early, delivering one of the team's steadiest performances of the day despite not having his score count in the official team tally.
Alexander Rowland delivered a strong finish, sinking a birdie putt on 18 to cap off a round of 76 (+4). He's tied with Rhett South at five-over, with South also carding a 76 after picking up two birdies on the back nine.
Ed Featherstone rounded out the day's effort with a 79 (+7), helping the team stay within striking distance of the top eight.
"Tough day as a team on and around the greens, but we still have a chance and need to go out and stack good shots on top of one another tomorrow morning," said head coach Austin Eoff. "Freddie played solid today to lead the team and we will look forward to tomorrow."
Little Rock trails Charleston by just three strokes and is seven shots back of SMU in seventh. With a focused final round, the Trojans remain firmly in the hunt to climb the leader board and make a late push toward NCAA Championship qualification.
