Three Little Rock golfers were honored by the Golf Coaches of America Tuesday.
Matteo Cristoni,
Archie Smith and
Rhett South earned NCAA Division I Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar honors for the 2024-25 season.
"It's great to see these guys rewarded not only for the fantastic golf they played last year but also how hard they work in the classroom," Little Rock head coach
Austin Eoff said. "Each of these guys had a GPA over 3.80 this year, played every event and averaged below 73.0 per round. It's just another accolade for each of these guys after the successful season each of them had for our team."
To be eligible for the All-American Scholar nomination, a golfer had to be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically or receiving their associate's degree and in their final year of athletic eligibility. Also, the nominee was required to have participated in 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds and have a stroke average under 76.0 and maintain a cumulative career grade point average of 3.2.
Cristoni, a senior from Italy, clinched the OVC Tournament title for the Trojans with a clutch putt in the match-play format. He earned OVC Player of the Year honors. He also graduated with honors and was a finalist for Male Scholar Athlete of the year given at this year's Trojan Outstanding Performers ceremony, the awards banquet for Little Rock Department of Athletics student-athletes.
Smith, a senior from England, was a first-team All-OVC selection. He also graduated with honors.
South, a redshirt sophomore from Fayetteville, was the co-medalist of the OVC Tournament and earned second-team All-OVC honors.
