Roman named Defensive Player of the Week for second time

LITTLE ROCK — Junior libero Andrea Roman picked up her second Defensive Player of the Week award, helping the Trojans to a 2-1 record at the Tulsa Invitational last weekend. The Ohio Valley Conference announced its weekly award winners today, the last group of winners before conference play begins later this week.
 
Roman totaled 50 digs during the three matches in Tulsa, which included wins over New Mexico State and Oral Roberts, and averaged 5.0 digs per set. She continues to rank among the best in the nation in the digs per set category. Roman is 22^nd nationally in digs per set (4.87) and first in the OVC.
 
"Andrea is consistent in what she does on the floor, whether it be digs or serve receive. She also helps in setting our hitters at times. She makes huge contributions for the team match after match and shows why she's one of the best liberos in the country," Little Rock head coach Van Compton said.
 
This is the third award won by Little Rock this season in just four weeks that the honors have been given. Roman also won the Defensive Player of the Week award on Sept. 8.
