WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Trojan golfers finished seventh in a stacked field at the Bryan Brothers Invitational Monday.
Little Rock finished 6-under par on the challenging Solina Golf Club track.
Mark Stockdale led the Trojans at 4-under par to finish 16th.
Ed Featherstone was even and landed in 31st, as was
Viggo Talasmaki.
Elliott Simonsen (47th) was 4-over and
Rhett South (49th) 5-over. Featherstone carded a 4-under in Monday's third round.
Rhett South shot a 3-under.
"Well, we don't like easy golf, but we do thrive under tough conditions," Little Rock head coach
Austin Eoff said. "We finished really strong today in on-and-off rain and made much better decisions.
"We have to continue to clean up our wedges and three-putting to become the team we know we are capable of. Mark again didn't have his best stuff this week and did a good job of getting the ball in the hole with his great short game. Ed and Rhett both played nicely in the third round and Viggo made very good progress this week with two rounds of par-or-better for the first time as a Trojan."
LSU came from behind to take the team title from Charlotte. The Tigers were -35, three shots better than the 49ers. Duke's Bryan Kim took the individual title shooting -16.
Little Rock travels to South Bend, Ind., to play in the Fighting Irish Classic Oct. 6–7.
"We have a very quick turnaround as we head to Notre Dame to play an elite field," Eoff said.
