WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Back where it all connects, Little Rock men's golf begins its quest to defend its Ohio Valley Conference Championship this week at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex on the campus of Purdue University.
For head coach
Austin Eoff, the setting adds another layer of meaning. A former Boilermaker standout and assistant coach at Purdue, Eoff returns to a place that helped shape his career — this time leading a Trojan squad with championship expectations.
"Really looking forward to being back at the OVC Championship to defend our title from a season ago," Eoff said. "It is a long week here with stroke play and match play, so keeping the guys fresh during the week will be important. The golf course will be a great test and we look forward to getting out there and competing."
The Trojans enter as the defending OVC champions, carrying both confidence and momentum into one of the most demanding formats of the season — a combination of stroke play followed by match play.
Little Rock's lineup is built on depth and balance, something that was evident in the league's postseason honors announced earlier this week.
Sophomore
Ed Featherstone headlines the group after earning All-OVC First Team honors in a breakout season that has positioned him among the league's elite. He is joined on the first team by
Rhett South and freshman
Viggo Talasmaki, giving Little Rock three players recognized among the conference's best.
The Trojans' depth doesn't stop there.
Mark Stockdale earned both All-OVC First Team and All-Newcomer Team honors, while
Elliott Simonsen added All-OVC Second Team and All-Newcomer Team recognition.
In total, five Trojans earned All-OVC honors, the most of any program — a reflection of a roster capable of contending from top to bottom.
That depth will be critical in a championship format that demands consistency across multiple rounds before shifting to the pressure-packed environment of match play.
"Our mindset is the same as it's been all year — just stay steady and trust what we do," South said. "We've got a lot of confidence in this group, and we know if we play our game, we'll be right there at the end."
