STANFORD, Calif. – Competing against one of the nation's strongest fields, the Little Rock men's golf team wrapped up play at The Goodwin Saturday at Stanford Golf Course, finishing 22nd overall.
The Trojans posted rounds of +10, +1 and +10 to finish at +21 in a 30-team field that featured 11 nationally ranked programs, including host and champion Stanford (-17), UCLA (-13) and New Mexico (-10).
Ed Featherstone led the Trojans, finishing 15th at three-under par for the tournament after closing with a one-over 71 in the final round. Featherstone was one of the top performers in the field and provided a steady presence throughout the three-day event.
Elliott Simonsen and
Mark Stockdale each finished at +8 overall, with Stockdale delivering one of the team's best rounds of the tournament with a second-round 70. Simonsen added a consistent effort across all three rounds.
Freshman Viggo Talasmäki competed against one of the toughest fields of his young collegiate career, finishing at +15, while
Rhett South rounded out the team scoring at +14.
Little Rock showed its best round in the second round, carding a +1 as a team while gaining ground against a nationally competitive leaderboard.
The Trojans round out the regular season April 19 at the Hoosier Invitational at Bloomington, Ind.Â
