LAFAYETTE, La. – The Little Rock men's golf team fired a pair of strong rounds Monday and sits in second place after 36 holes at the Louisiana Classics at Oakbourne Country Club.
The Trojans enter the final round at 15-under par, trailing Texas A&M, which leads the tournament at 23-under. Michigan is third at 14-under, followed by Lamar in fourth at 13-under.
Elliott Simonsen led the Trojans with an impressive performance, finishing the day at 7-under par and sitting in a three-way tie for fourth place. He is just one stroke behind two players tied for second. Louisiana's Aldrich Potgieter leads the individual standings at 12-under.
Viggo Talasmaki and Ed Featherstone are both tied for 19th place at 4-under, while Rhett South finished the opening two rounds even par and is tied for 40th.
Mark Stockdale rounds out the Trojan lineup at 2-over par, placing him 53rd heading into the final round.
The tournament concludes Tuesday with the final round beginning at 1 p.m. as the Trojans look to chase down the Aggies for the team title.
