Box Score MURFREESBORO, Tenn.?The University of Arkansas-Little Rock score four runs on three hits in the top of the eighth and held Middle Tennessee to just one run over the next inning and a half to win 5-2 Saturday. The Trojans (18-10, 1-1 Sun Belt) recorded 11 hits for the day.
Brett Lawler went 3-of-4 with a double, while Ryan Gotcher went 2-of-3 with a double and two RBI.
Adam Miller recorded his fifth win pitching three innings while allowing only one run on four hits. Trevor Clay started the game allowing one run on six hits.
The first four innings remained scoreless with the Trojans limiting the Blue Raiders to just three hits.
UALR put the first run on the board at the top of the fifth when Derek Eilers singled to left field bringing Drew Gray across the plate.
Middle Tennessee would answer back in the bottom of the sixth on a double by Jeff Beachum.
After one out in the top of the eighth, Lawler advanced to first after being hit by a pitch. Drew Smiley singled into left field advancing Lawler to third. Matt Garlington doubled into right field scoring two runs. A sacrifice fly by Tim Lawarence brought Garlington to third, before Gray was hit by a pitcher. Gotcher's double to left field would score two more runs for the Trojans.
The Blue Raiders put a run on the board in the bottom of the eighth. After a triple by Beachum, Todd Martin singled to right field to bring the run across.
Miller held Middle Tennessee's offense in the bottom of the ninth for the win.
Arkansas-Little Rock continues conference action tomorrow in the final game of the series against Middle Tennessee. Game is set to begin at 1 p.m.
