Box Score MONROE, La. ? Louisiana-Monroe's Bo Bowman drove in three runs and Bucky Christensen (2-0) allowed one run over 5.2 innings to help the Warhawks (10-4, 2-0) take a 4-1 win over UALR (7-9, 0-2) in the second bout of a three-game series.
Seniors Ryan Gotcher and Brett Lawler led the Trojans with two hits a piece, but UALR stranded 10 runners (including two men in the first, third and sixth innings) en route to their sixth-straight loss. Junior Joe Campbell (1-2) was credited with the loss after allowing seven hits and four runs over 6.0 innings of work.
ULM took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first off a RBI groundout by Bowman. The Trojans tied the game at 1-all in the top of the first after senior Brian Asbill sparked the team with a one-out triple to left. Asbill came around to score on a groundout by senior Matt King.
The Warhawks reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the third after Ben Soignier doubled to left center and came around to score from third on another groundout by Bowman. Leading 2-1, Bowman extended the Warhawks' lead with his third home run of the year, a leadoff shot to right in the bottom of the sixth. ULM tacked on an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh, compliments of a two-out, RBI double by Andy Jones off freshman reliever Ashur Tolliver.
Christensen allowed seven hits over 5.2 innings, but was able to hold the Trojans to just one run to pick up his second win of the season. A.J. Ford pitched 2.1 innings of scoreless relief, before David Mixon recorded his fourth save by pitching a perfect ninth.
The two teams conclude the three-game series tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m.
