LITTLE ROCK, Ark. ? The UALR Trojans soccer team (6-8-1, 2-4) was unable to stop the
bleeding from their previous two losses as they were upended Sunday at Burns
Park by the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders (7-5-2, 5-1) by the score of
1-0.
The Blue Raiders only had one more shot than the Trojans
on the afternoon, but a goal in the 73rd minute by Jennifer Threlkeld proved to
be the difference. The goal by Threlkeld, her second on the year, came off of a
corner kick from Vanessa Mueggler, who picked up her third assist of the
season.
MTSU goalkeeper Kela Casiple earned six saves on the
afternoon en route to the shutout. The 1-0 win today marks the sixth shutout of
the season for the Blue Raiders, including their third straight. UALR has now
been the victim of five shutouts this year.
UALR's Grace Rich led
the Trojans offense with three shots, all of which were on goal. Christina Veasley added two shots today
for UALR.
Defensively, Trojans goalkeeper Jane Picarelli added five saves to her season total which now
stands at 93.
UALR returns to action on Oct. 17 when they travel to Denton, Texas to take on
the University of
North Texas. Game time in
the lone star state is set for 7 p.m.
