Box Score MIAMI, Fla. - A goal
in the 34th minute off a penalty kick proved to be the difference Friday
evening at FIU Soccer Stadium as the Florida International Golden Panthers
earned a 1-0 victory over the UALR Trojans.
FIU's Thaisa Moreno capitalized on a penalty kick, getting
her sixth goal of the year, which was the only goal scored Friday night.
The UALR offense had just five shots on the evening with
three on goal. Sophomore Kristen Semko led
the way with two shots while three other Trojans recorded one shot a piece.
On the other end, the Golden Panthers had 13 shots with
three on frame. Moreno
had six shots and April Perry and Amy Jackson has two apiece.
With the victory, FIU improved their record to 9-5-3
overall and 7-1-1 in Sun Belt play. UALR fell to 6-10-1 overall and 3-5-1 in
league play.
Junior goalie Jane
Picarelli spent all 90 minutes in goal for UALR and earned two saves.
UALR finishes up their weekend trip to the Sunshine State on Sunday when they take on Florida
Atlantic. Game time for the Owls and the Trojans is scheduled for 11 a.m. CST.
