Box Score LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The UALR Trojans soccer team
struggled to finish any of their 15 shots at ULM Soccer Complex as they fell
2-0 to the ULM Warhawks in Sun Belt Conference action Friday afternoon.
UALR (3-7-1, 0-2-1), had eight shots on frame, including
three by sophomore Taylor Gabbert, but failed to push any past ULM
goalkeepers Alex Holland and Mallory George. Holland finished the game with five saves
while George tallied three. Sophomore Christina
Veasley led UALR in shots with five, two of which were on frame.
The Warhawks (2-7-2, 1-2-0) had just 12 shots with eight
on frame but managed a goal in each half en route to the victory.
ULM took the lead with less than three
minutes to play in the opening period as Ashleigh Fitterer finished a loose
ball from 12 yards out. The Warhawks built their lead even stronger in the 67th
minute when Megan Payne scored her first goal this season on a strike from 35
yards out.
Each team acquired 13 fouls in the contest and ULM had six corner kicks
compared to UALR's two.
UALR looks to earn their first Sun Belt victory of the
year on Sunday when they travel to Louisiana-Lafayette. Last season, the Ragin'
Cajuns defeated UALR 3-1 at Burns
Park. Game time Sunday is
set for 1 p.m.
