Box Score LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The UALR Trojan soccer team
(3-6-1, 0-1-1) wasted no time jumping ahead of the South Alabama Jaguars Sunday
afternoon at Burns Park, but the Jaguars fought back hard in the second half to
force overtime and an eventual 2-2 tie.
Just 16 seconds into the game, UALR had a 1-0 lead thanks
to a goal by Rachael Maina from 10
yards out. The goal for was Maina's second this season and Christina Veasley was credited with her first assist of the year.
The Trojans built on that lead later in the first half as
Veasley put through her team-best fourth goal of the year. Heather Pittman made the pass which set up Veasley, helping UALR to
a 2-0 lead.
The Trojans appeared to be destined for their first
conference victory as they opened the first 36 minutes of the second half
unscathed. South Alabama managed to crack the
scoreboard, however, in the 82nd minute when Liz Clark rebounded a Kristin
Sutton shot for the score.
Just over two minutes later, Clark
set up Brandi Smith, who finished with a beautiful strike from the right side
of the box to tie the game at 2-2

overtime periods. UALR had four shots on frame in the overtime periods but all
were saved by South Alabama goalkeeper Cassie
Lythjohan.

halftime, finished the day with 14 shots and nine shots on goal. The Trojans
