Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla. - The UALR women's soccer team (4-7, 0-2 SBC) dropped its second straight game Sunday afternoon, falling to FAU (3-6, 2-0 SBC) by a score of 0-6 at FAU Soccer Stadium. The Trojans fell behind early and were never able to generate any momentum on the offensive end of the field.
Five of FAU's six goals came in the first half. Allison Griffin and Jesse Shug each scored within the first three minutes to give the Owls an early 2-0 lead.
Griffin was credited with an assist on Shug's goal.
The Owls would score two more quick goals to increase their lead to four. In the 13th minute, Alexandra Major would make the score 3-0 when she converted off a pass from Griffin. Seven minutes later, Griffin would score her second goal of the game on a one-timer up the middle to make the score 4-0, Owls.
Anhnhi Tran would also be credited with an assist on Major's goal, while Gabriela DeVries assisted on Griffin's second.
FAU's final goal of the first half came in the 24th minute. Again, it would be Major converting off a pass from Tran, this time from just outside the box.
The Owls would add their final tally shortly after intermission. Marisa Russo scored off a cross from Laura Hyvonen from the center of the box to give the Owls a 6-0 advantage.
For the game, UALR and FAU both finished with 15 total shots and eight shots on goal. In corner kicks, the Trojans led 3-0, while FAU committed one foul to zero for UALR.
Jane Picarelli and Michelle Pittman split time in goal for the Trojans. Picarelli got the start with Pittman coming in in relief in the 28th minute.
Despite being unable to convert, several UALR players were able to put shots on frame. Kristen Semko and Christina Veasley each finished with two shots on goal, with four other Trojans putting one shot on frame apiece.
UALR will be back in Little Rock for its next two matches. The Trojans will play Western Kentucky on Friday, October 1, and Middle Tennessee on Sunday, October 3. Both matches will be played at Burns Park with kick off slated for 7 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
