Box Score MOBILE, Ala. - Freshman Alyson Rohane scored the lone goal for UALR (7-10-0, 3-5-0 SBC), as
the Trojans dropped their second straight match in a 3-1 loss at South Alabama (11-3-2, 4-2-1 SBC) on Sunday. The Jaguars
stacked a pair of second-half goals on top on a Shelby Owen scored at the 21:28
mark to avenge a 3-1 loss to UALR last year in Little Rock.
Junior Michelle Pittman made four stops in
goal for the Trojans. USA's
Melissa Drish made 10 saves to pick up the win.
Offensively,
senior Kristen Semko put up seven
shots, including four on frame to lead the Trojans in both categories. Rohane
contributed three shots, while sophomore Holly
Holland and junior Olivia Carrasco
took two shots apiece.
Total shots
between the two teams were tied, 17-17, while UALR led in shots on goal, 11-7.
The
Trojans and the Jaguars combined to take 23 shots alone in the second half,
with UALR leading, 14-11.
USA took an early lead in the game's
22nd minute. Owen scored her second goal of the year when she
accepted a corner kick off the foot of Linsey Snavely and beat Pittman to give
the Jaguars a 1-0 advantage.
South Alabama took a 2-0 lead four minutes into the second half.
At the 48:59 mark, Snavely tallied her first goal of 2011 when she scored off a
helper from Morgan Motes to give USA a two-goal cushion.
Just four
minutes later, Rohane scored the second goal of her freshman campaign, beating
the keeper on a header received from fellow first-year player Besty Blackwood and pulling UALR within
one.
Brandi
Smith's 11th goal of the year put the game out of reach at the 76:32
mark. Smith dribbled downfield and beat the keeper for the Jaguars' third and
final goal of the match. Lauren Marsh and Rachael Hess were each credited with
assists on the play.
UALR led
in corner kicks, 5-4, and fouls, 10-8.
The
Trojans return to action on Thursday, Oct. 20, when they hit the road to take
on North Texas at 7:00 p.m.
