Box Score MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - UALR (5-8-0, 1-3-0) suffered its second straight 1-0 defeat on Sunday, this time at the hands of Middle Tennessee (5-7-0, 2-2-0) at Dean A. Hayes Stadium. Despite being outshot 26-1 overall and 11-0 in shots on goal, the Trojans kept the Blue Raiders off the scoreboard until the 70th minute, when Regina Thomas' third goal of the year proved to be the game-winner.
Junior Michelle Pittman made nine saves in goal for the Trojans. Middle Tennessee's Rebecca Cushing picked up the shutout victory without having to stop a single shot.
Thomas' goal at the 69:58 mark came off a one-touch pass from teammate Luisa Moscoso. Thomas sprinted past the UALR defense and beat Pittman to give the Blue Raiders a one-goal lead they would not relinquish.
Despite scoring just one goal, Middle Tennessee controlled the contest offensively. The Blue Raiders put up 16 shots in the second half alone and led 10-0 in that category at the half. MT also led in corner kicks, 7-2, while UALR committed 12 fouls to two for the Blue Raiders.
Senior Jacquelyn Paz put up the lone UALR shot on the afternoon.
Thomas paced the MT offense with four shots on goal. Paige Goeglin and Allison Stallard each put two shots on frame.
UALR will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 7 when they take on ULM at Burns Park. First kick is slated for 7 p.m.
