Box Score LITTLE
ROCK
- ULM (4-8-0, 1-2-0 SBC) handed UALR (1-11-0, 0-4-0 SBC) its second 1-0 defeat
of the weekend on Sunday at the Coleman Sports & Recreation Complex. The
Warhawks' Karlea Fehr netted the game-winner at the 56:02 mark to earn ULM its
first Sun Belt victory of the season.
Fehr was able to capitalize on a Trojan miscue for the
goal, intercepting a pass in the UALR box and beating Wittke off a clean look
from 15 yards out, straightaway. The goal was Fehr's fourth of the season and
her second game-winner.
UALR's best chance at an equalizer came shortly after
Fehr's score. Sophomore Lexus VanPelt
got a clean look from the edge of the box, but ULM's Alex Holland elevated and
tapped the shot just over the top of the crossbar to preserve the Warkhawks'
advantage.
Both keepers played stellar on Sunday. Holland made six
saves en route to the shutout for ULM, and UALR's Shantel Wittke made seven saves while allowing just Fehr's score.
The Trojans outshot the Warhawks, 17-10, but came out
on the short end of the shots-on-goal count, 6-8. Sophomores Ariel Galletti and Alyson Rohane paced the Trojan offense with five shots each. Galletti
finished with a team-high two shots on goal.
Freshman Ashley
Asuncion and junior Adrianna Queen
each put up two shots for UALR.
Fehr carried the ULM offense, putting up six of their
ten total shots while putting five of which on target.
UALR led in corner kicks, 5-3, and committed nine fouls
to the Warkhawks' two.
UALR still leads in the all-time series with ULM, 7-6,
although Sunday's win was just the second ever for the Warhawks in Little Rock.
UALR will hit the road in search of its first Sun Belt
win of the season next weekend with games at South Alabama and Troy. The
Trojans square off with USA on Friday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. before traveling to
Troy for a 1 p.m. matchup on Sunday, Oct. 7.
