Box Score CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Austin Peay scored once in the first half and twice in the second as it handed the UALR soccer team its first loss of the season Friday night.
The Trojans (2-1-0) were unable to score and fell 3-0 in their first road game of the year at Morgan Bros. Soccer Field, the home stadium of Austin Peay (3-0-0).
The game was called early in the 79th minute. After an approximately 15-minute delay due to malfunctioning lights in the stadium, the teams agreed to end the game before the full 90 minutes had been played.
Austin Peay got on the board with fewer than six minutes gone from the clock. On a breakaway, Gina Fabbro got a shot past Kylie Wilson to give the homestanding Governors a 1-0 advantage.
The Trojans held strong the rest of the first half, allowing only one other shot on goal for the Governors with Wilson making that save. UALR's lone shot in the half came from Kailie Holloway but was saved by Wilson's counterpart, Nikki Filippone.
In the second half, after an early Alyson Rohane shot went wide, Austin Peay got its second goal early to put the game out of reach. Tatiana Ariza was on the end of a Morgan Zigelsky cross, and the Governors had a 2-0 lead with 38 minutes left.
Ariza scored again 13 minutes later to provide the game's final score.
Holloway and Rohane took the only two shots on goal for UALR in the contest, though Adrianna Queen took two shots that missed their target. Malin Westerberg also took a shot.
Wilson ended the night with a season-high two saves.
The Trojans have Saturday off but play again on Sunday in Kentucky against Murray State. UALR and the Racers kick off at 1 p.m.
