Box Score OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss scored three goals in the first 18 minutes allowed no shots on goal as it defeated the UALR soccer team 3-0 on Sunday evening.
The lone shot for the Trojans (3-6) came off the foot of Ashley Barksdale, but otherwise the goalie for the Rebels (8-1-1) was untested. UALR keeper Sara Cavanagh made six saves, nearly matching a career high of seven that she made against UAB on Friday at home.
The Ole Miss scoring started early as Rafaelle Souza struck for her 10th goal of the season in the seventh minute. She added her second goal of the game three minutes later, and Olivia Harrison capped the scoring for the Rebels in the 18th minute.
The Trojans defense improved from there, not allowing a shot on goal in the final 45 minutes. Barksdale's shot for the Trojans came in the 61st minute.
UALR won three corner kicks in the game and used 20 different players throughout.
The conference season now begins for UALR as it travels to Arkansas State on Sunday. The Trojans and Red Wolves play their first Sun Belt Conference game at 1 p.m.
