LITTLE ROCK – The Trojans' toughest test of the 2016 season takes place on Friday night as the team travels to College Station, Texas, for a matchup with Southeastern Conference foe Texas A&M. The Aggies are currently ranked No. 14 in the nation.
Â
The game will be aired live on the SEC Network+, the online-only arm of the SEC Network. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Ellis Field.
Â
With three straight wins under their belt for just the sixth time since 2000, the Trojans have a large obstacle in the way of just their third four-game winning streak since 2000.
Â
Texas A&M is just 2-2 on the season, but the Aggies have already played No. 1 Florida State and No. 11 UCLA this year, losing both contest by slim 1-0 margins. The Aggies' wins have come against Rice and Tulsa by a combined 6-1 score. Texas A&M also played exhibitions in the preseason against No. 5 Florida and Oklahoma State.
Â
But this Trojan team set to battle the Aggies on a roll, earning its third straight victory on Tuesday afternoon against UAPB.
Jaclyn Purvine scored two goals and had an assist in the game while
Madison Bingham got the first goal of her career.
Fali Garuba,
Quin Wilkes and
Caitlyn Eddy also scored for the Trojans on a hot day in Pine Bluff.
Â
All told 10 different Trojan players have contributed a point this year, and 24 total student-athletes have seen playing time. Purvine leads all Trojans with five points on the year. Wilkes and Garuba each have four points while
Harrison Hayworth has three.
Â
In net,
Sara Small has played in four of five games and has allowed just three goals while making 14 saves.
Â
Little Rock will be on shorter rest than Texas A&M heading into Friday's game, as the Aggies have not played since Sunday.
Â
The Trojans are 4-6 all-time against Texas A&M and 7-29 against members of the Southeastern Conference. The team's last win against an SEC school came in 1997 when the Trojans downed LSU, but Little Rock kept things close against Ole Miss last year in a game that went to overtime. Small made 13 saves against those 2015 rebels before conceding a goal in the 96th minute.
