Small Signs Professional Contract to Play in Iceland

LITTLE ROCK – Following one of the best goalkeeping careers in Little Rock soccer history, Sara Small has signed a professional contract to play for UMF Sindri in Iceland.
 
Small becomes the first Trojan women's soccer player to go pro.
 
The Bend, Oregon, native played two seasons for the Trojans, posting the best save percentage (.803) and goals against average (0.93) over a career in program history. Small is also eighth all-time in Little Rock history in saves (147), second all-time in career wins (18) and second all-time in career shutouts (12.2).
 
As for individual seasons, Small has the top two individual seasons in program history in save percentage, making saving 80.4 percent of shots on goal in 2015 and 80.3 percent of shots on goal in 2016. She has two of the top three goals against average seasons in program history with a 0.83 GAA in 2016 and a 1.02 GAA in 2016. And her 10 wins as a keeper last season is the single-season program record. She also has the single-season program record with 6.1 shutouts in a year in 2015 and 2016.
 
UMF Sindri is based in the second division of Icelandic women's soccer. The club is in the town of Höfn on the southeast part of Iceland. Last season, Sindri finished in second place in its division last season in the third tier of Icelandic women's soccer.
 
Small attracted Sindri's attention by attending a combine in Florida in early January. She will leave for Iceland in late March with the season slated to begin in early April.
 
The senior is set to graduate in May with just one online class remaining in her spring semester.
