LITTLE ROCK – The Little Rock soccer team's difficult non-conference schedule continues this weekend with the team traveling to Texas and hosting Missouri State on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
Â
Friday's game at Mike A. Myers Stadium against the Longhorns will be aired on the Longhorn Network starting at 7 p.m. Sunday's home game against Missouri State will begin at 1 p.m. at the Coleman Sports & Recreation Complex.
Kickoff off the weekend in Austin, Texas, will bring another giant challenge for Little Rock in just its third game of the season. Coming off a game against a Memphis squad that went to the NCAA Tournament in 2016, the Trojans will face a Texas team that competes against some of the nation's best teams in the Big 12 Conference.
Â
Texas has started the season with a 2-0 record after victories against Rice and Western Kentucky last weekend. Four different players scored for the Longhorns and Nicole Curry allowed just one goal on seven shots faced.
Â
Missouri State, meanwhile, comes into the weekend with a record of 0-2. The Bears lost by scores of 2-1 to Arkansas State and Mississippi State last weekend. Rachel Catrell and Brooke Prondzinski each scored a goal for Missouri State while Kaitlin Maxwell allowed four goals and made nine saves combined in two contests.
Â
Little Rock began the season with a split weekend on Friday and Sunday, defeating rival Central Arkansas 2-1 thanks to an overtime goal by
Jaclyn Purvine before falling 3-0 to Memphis on the road. The Trojans used 13 different starters in the two games and 19 different players on the roster.
Â
Most recently against Texas, Little Rock forced a 0-0 draw on the road in 2015. When the team last played Missouri State, it defeated the Bears 2-0 in Springfield in 2016.
