LITTLE ROCK- Little Rock swimming and diving will compete in their second of three consecutive home meets on Saturday at the Donaghey Aquatic Center when they host the Little Rock Invitational at 10 a.m.
"This is a big weekend for Little Rock swimming and diving," said Head Coach
Amy Burgess. "Hosting our third annual Little Rock Invitational, we are excited to welcome some new and returning teams to the Donaghey Aquatic Center. The team has been progressing nicely and we are looking forward to some breakthrough swims this weekend."
This is the third annual Little Rock Invitational. Little Rock took third last season in the second iteration of the event as they look welcome back a few teams from last year's slate.
In the previous meet, Little Rock fell to North Texas 611-560.
Lea Zengerling had a strong performance as she tallied three second-place performances in the 200-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke and the 100-yard freestyle.
"What really makes this weekend special is the dedication of our new score board to Coach John Torbett," said Burgess. "Coach Torbett is a legend within our program and the Central Arkansas Swimming Community. His spirit still lives within our team values. It is amazing to hear the many lives he touched over his career and I am so glad we can honor him in this way and have his name in our facility."
The experienced team will look to its senior leadership to carry the squad early in the season. The newcomers will look to impress in front of their home crowd.
