Five Trojans Receive All-Sun Belt Honors

LITTLE ROCK- The Trojans had four players named to the All-Sun Belt First Team as well as one player named Second-Team All-Sun Belt, announced Tuesday by league officials.

Arola Aparicio Gili, Doro Greulich, Liesa Seifert and Fanney Einarsdottir received first team honors for their excellent play to lead the Trojans to a historic season, tying the school-record for wins in season with 12. Jaclyn Purvine received second team honors after her stellar season as the first Little Rock player to score double-digit goals in a season since 2008.

Aparicio Gili is garnering first-team honors for the third time in her career. She finished second in the conference in total goals, goals per game and game-winning goals in the 2018 season. The Spanish forward also finished third in points and points per game. The senior tallied 17 total points, scoring seven goals and dishing out three assists to show her dominant presence on the attack. With three game-winning goals, including a couple late-winners, Aparicio Gili was instrumental in the Trojans success this season.

Receiving First-Team All-Sun Belt honors for the second time is Greulich. A First-Team All-Sun Belt selection in 2017 and second-team honoree in 2016, the German forward was the focal point of Little Rock's attack. Greulich finished third in the Sun Belt for total shots while only playing nine of the 10 conference games. The junior scored four goals and delivered six assists to finish with a total of 14 points on the year. Greulich was excellent when it came to holding up play at the top of the penalty area and creating scoring-opportunities for her attacking players. She used her strength and two-footed ability to become force to be reckoned with in the attacking third.

Seifert solidified herself as one of the more dominant defenders to play in the Sun Belt in 2018. Playing at Little Rock for only two years, the German defender received First-Team honors in both her junior and senior campaigns. Seifert used her pace, height and strength to anchor a Trojan back line that tallied a school-record 10 shutouts on the season. The senior also scored three goals from the penalty spot to contribute on the offensive side of the pitch.

In her first season wearing the maroon and silver, Einarsdottir earned First-Team All-Sun Belt honors. The midfielder from Iceland netted four goals and netted one assist in the 2018 season. The freshman was very versatile throughout the year, showing her ability to attack, defend and hold possession for her team. She was very effective on both ends of the pitch as she was effective in tackling opposing players, winning header and getting involved in the attack. Einarsdottir will look to be a bright spot in the Trojan starting eleven for the years to come.

Garnering second-team honors this season was Moore, Okla. native Purvine. The senior scored 10 goals in what was a stellar season in her final year wearing the maroon and silver. While posting three multi-goal games throughout the season, Purvine also tallied four assists. The forward was extremely effective in the attack all season long and showed her ability to find space anywhere in the attacking third of the pitch. Essential to the Trojans' success this season, Purvine scored five game-winning goals. Her goal-scoring form and senior leadership proved to be vital for Little Rock.

The Trojans will take the pitch for the first round of the Sun Belt tournament Oct. 31 at 4 p.m. in Foley, Ala. against rival and number seven seed Arkansas State. The game will be available to watch on ESPN+ and live stats will be available as well.
