Little Rock Looks Ahead to First Home Meet of Season

LITTLE ROCK- Little Rock swimming and diving will compete in their first home meet of the season on Saturday when the Trojans host North Texas at 11 a.m.
In the previous meet at the North Texas Relays, Little Rock took second place and tallied 130 points. North Texas returns to the pool to oppose the Trojans after finishing first in last week's meet. The Mean Green finished with 206 points. Little Rock head coach Amy Burgess is looking forward to starting their series of home meets
"We are looking forward to welcoming back North Texas
and kicking off our home meet series this month," Burgess said. "It was a good start last weekend and we are looking forward to building off the relay meet with some individual races. "

Burgess also spoke of the upperclassmen as the team will look to its senior leadership to propel them this season.

"The team swims well at home and is fired up to take on the Mean Green in front of a home crowd. Our upperclassmen have done a great job prepping the team for this weekend and I am looking forward to some exciting swimming," Burgess said.

Seniors Laura Ruiz Astorga and Imre van Huyssteen return as All-Missouri Valley Conference Honorable Mention recipients and will look to improve upon last season's performances. The team contains 17 returners on the roster of 22 as experience will be a clear strength for the Trojans.

Little Rock will compete in the second of three consecutive home meets on Oct. 20 at the Donaghey Aquatic Center at 10 a.m. for the Little Rock Invitational.
