LITTLE ROCK- Bringing an experienced team to the pool this season, Little Rock swimming and diving head coach
Amy Burgess released the team's 2018-19 schedule on Tuesday.
"We are excited to start the season primarily at home and finish on the road," said Burgess. "We have a lot of great returning and new talent coming in and really like that our home crowd gets to see them in action during the fall."
The season's schedule consists 10 meets with three of which at home. The team will compete against some familiar foes this season.
The Trojans will open up their season in Denton, Tex. to compete in the North Texas Relays on Sept. 28. Little Rock will then return home the following weekend to welcome the Mean Green for their first home meet of the season. As the first part of a three-meet homestand, the Trojans will return to Donaghey Aquatic Center for the Little Rock Invitational on Oct. 20 before welcoming the University of Evansville on Oct. 27.
After a busy October schedule, Little Rock will have some downtime before their next meet which takes place Nov. 16-18 at Kansas University. For the third consecutive season, the team will be competing in the Kansas Classic in Topeka, Kansas. The Trojans will be competing against high-quality opponents from a variety of conferences.
"Traveling back to the Kansas Classic, we look forward to seeing our continued mid-season success against some good competition from the Big 12, Conference USA, the Summit League, and the [Missouri Valley Conference]," said Burgess.
In the new year, the Trojans will travel to Cardondale, Ill. to take on Southern Illinois on Jan. 19. The following weekend, Little Rock will take on in-state rival Ouachita Baptist University when they travel to Arkadelphia, Ark. on Jan. 26.
The Trojans will hit the pool for their final regular season meet at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn. on Feb. 2.
"Ending our regular season on the road will help prepare the team to swim while traveling and get ready for the MVC Championship, held this year at the University of Missouri. Many of our student-athletes from Arkansas and surrounding states are familiar with Columbia and are very excited to compete in a top-notch facility," said Burgess.
The Missouri Valley Conference Championships have been moved to the University of Missouri in Colombia, Mo. for the 2018-19 season, taking place Feb. 20-23.
