Trojans Open Conference Play with Coastal Carolina

LITTLE ROCK- The Trojans will open up conference play with Friday's match against Coastal Carolina, which has been moved to Kennesaw State University at 1 p.m. due to Hurricane Florence.

Trojan Report
The Trojans had a four-game win streak snapped after their 2-0 loss to TCU. Little Rock was able to bounce back in Sunday's match, however, and grabbed a scrappy 1-0 win at Sam Houston State. The maroon and silver will look to continue their winning ways with the beginning of conference play. The Trojan defense has been fairly solid as the team picked up its fourth shutout on Sunday.

Trojan Leaders

Jaclyn Purvine scored yet again on Sunday, bringing her goal total to seven on the season. Morgan Smocovich and Doro Greulich each picked up an assist over the weekend to contribute to the team's attacking presence. Liesa Seifert received Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week honors for her strong defense in the team's shutout of Sam Houston State. The back line will look to her to anchor the defense.

Last Time Out
In the first match of the weekend, the Trojans were matched against a quality side in TCU. It was a stormy night at the Coleman Sports and Recreation Complex as a lightning delay took place shortly before halftime. The Horned Frogs were able to get out to an early lead and tacked on another goal late in the match to seal the win. Little Rock got back in the win column with a 1-0 victory over Sam Houston State. Purvine netted the game-winning goal early in the second half and some strong defending preserved the 1-0 result.

Scouting the Chanticleers
Coastal Carolina has struggled in their nonconference schedule, posting a 1-4-1 record thus far. The Chanticleers have only scored three goals in their six matches while being shutout in their last four matches. CCU has been outscored 8-3 this season as most of their matches have been low-scoring. Coastal Carolina has yet to win a game on their home field and will be looking to pick up some important points in conference play. Baylee Price leads the team in points with one goal and one assist thus far.

Series History
Little Rock's matchup with Coastal Carolina marks the fourth in the teams' history. As a relatively new addition to the Sun Belt conference, CCU will look to make an impact as quickly as possible. Little Rock has never beaten the Chanticleers as they hold a 2-0-1 advantage over the Trojans. Last season, the teams fought to a 0-0 draw after two-overtime periods.

Looking Ahead
Next weekend, the Trojans will return to Little Rock to host Georgia State on Sept. 21 to continue their conference schedule before heading back on the road to take on Texas State on Sept. 23.
