LITTLE ROCK- The 2018-19 season will commence for the Little Rock swimming and diving team as they begin their schedule with the North Texas Relays on Sept. 28 at 4 p.m. at the Pohl Recreation Center and Peb Natatorium in Denton, Texas.
"We are excited to travel to Denton and kick off our competition season with an all relay meet," said Head Coach
Amy Burgess. "The team has been building momentum every week in practice and they are ready to hit the road and have some non-teammate competition."
This will be the fourth consecutive year in which Little Rock has competed in the North Texas Relays. Last season, the Trojans took fifth in this competition.
The Trojans are extremely experienced this season as 17 of their 22 rostered competitors are returning from the 2017-18 season. The team also returns two-time Missouri Valley Conference Honorable Mention recipients
Laura Ruiz Astorga and
Imre van Huyssteen. Little Rock also added three talented freshmen and two transfers to round out their lineup.
"We are looking forward to seeing how our newcomers translate training into meets and our upperclassmen step up into new roles. There are a lot of strong leaders in our program and competition always brings out the best," Burgess said.
The Trojans will return home for their home debut against North Texas on Oct. 6 in the Donaghey Student Aquatic Center.
