Â
Tournament Information
The 2019 Lady Red Wolves Classic will be a 54-hole event, played at Sage Meadows Country Club, a par-72, 6,138 course. The event will be broken up into two days, beginning the first two rounds staring with an 8 a.m. shotgun start Monday morning. The final round will get underway with an 8 a.m. shotgun start Tuesday morning.
Â
Tournament Field
Little Rock is one of nine teams competing in the 2019 Lady Red Wolves Classic and is one of three Sun Belt schools in the field, joined by host Arkansas State and UT Arlington. The remainder of the field is comprised of Austin Peay, Belmont, Lipscomb, Samford, Southern Illinois and Washington University.
Â
Trojan Lineup
When the Trojans tee off at the Lady Red Wolves Golf Classic, it will have the same lineup as they finished at last week's Chris Banister Golf Classic in Alabama. For the second-straight tournament,
Kellie Gachaga will occupy the number one position after posting her first career top-20 finish, followed by
Malena Austerslaatt in the number two spot, ranking second on the team with a 76.56 scoring average.
Â
Trojans in Jonesboro
This week's tournament in Jonesboro marks the third time Little Rock will compete in Arkansas State's host event and the first since 2016. The Trojans placed fourth in that event while logging a runner-up showing in its first appearance in 2006, placing second among a 19-team field.
Â
Last Time Out
Little Rock closed the Chris Banister Golf Classic in style, posting the low round of the day and jumping three spots over the final 18 holes to finish sixth with a 75-over 939. The Trojans posted a 299 in round three and was the only team among the field to shoot below 300 on the day.
Kellie Gachaga once again was the Trojans' top performer, logging her first career top-20 showing with a 15-over 231, tying for 14th overall.
Â
Strong Start For Gachaga
For the second-straight tournament, sophomore
Kellie Gachaga was the top Little Rock finisher while logging her first career top-20 finish last week, tying for 14th overall at the Chris Banister Golf Classic with a 15-over 231. The week before, she just missed a top-20 finish with a 9-over 225, tying her career low for a 54-hole event and tying for 22nd. Through three events, Gachaga is the Trojans' leader in scoring average at 76.44.
Â
Travels Continue
Little Rock remains on the road this week but won't have to venture far from home, making the shortest road trip of the season to Jonesboro. The round trip venture will add nearly 300 miles to the Trojans' yearly travels thus far in 2019-20, bringing the total to roughly 2,800 miles traveled, and will mark the third different state Little Rock will compete in, joining Alabama and Missouri.
Â
Looking Ahead
After competing in three-straight weeks, the Trojans will have a week off before getting set to host the yearly Little Rock Women's Golf Classic at Diamante Golf Club in Hot Springs Village. One of the highlights of the year, the Trojans will welcome 16 teams to central Arkansas for the three-day event, being held Sunday, October 27 through Sunday, October 29.
