LITTLE ROCK - After unplayable field conditions postponed the Sunday showdown between Arkansas State and Little Rock (5-7-6, 2-3-4 Sun Belt), the last remaining match on the Trojans' 2019 schedule will now be played on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 1:00 p.m. With the game location only approximately two hours from Little Rock, Trojan fans are encouraged to come out and support the team in its final matchup, which will be the final determinant on whether or not they advance to the Sun Belt Tournament.
Trojan Report
Little Rock played the teams that hold the top two spots in the conference standings this past weekend on the road, falling 2-1 to Troy before being defeated by league-leading South Alabama 3-0. The Trojans have 10 points in the Sun Belt standings and are tied with Georgia Southern for the final spot, meaning that Little Rock must tie or win in order to safely move on to the Sun Belt Tournament, as every other conference game has been completed. Trojan Leaders
Julia Edholm has made a name for herself in her freshman campaign, as the defender has the most goals on the team by far with six total, gathering 13 points. She is tied in conference play for third in goals scored and seventh for most points earned. Junior midfielder Morgan Smocovich has also made a statement for the Trojans, tallying six assists throughout the overall season for third in the league as well garnering 8 points. Little Rock will be relying on the back line of Samantha Rolka, Natalee Geren, and Bergros Asgeirsdottir to be the strong points of the Trojan defense heading into the final game.
Scouting Arkansas State
Before last weekend, Arkansas State was positioned third in the conference standings with 15 points with its sole loss to league-leading South Alabama after falling 1-0 in double overtime. However, after a full weekend of games for the rest of the league, the Red Wolves have fallen to sixth after being defeated by Coastal Carolina on Friday 1-2, making Arkansas State's record now 4-2-3 in the conference and 8-5-3 overall. Last year, Arkansas State was taken down by Little Rock 3-0 before finishing seventh in the conference. The two teams faced off again in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Tournament, but the Trojans advanced in PKs 4-3 after a 1-1 tie in regulation.
