Entering the day tied for 15th, Little Rock shaved three shots off its opening round 303 on a cloudy and chilly day in Hot Springs Village. The Trojans just missed becoming the 12th team to shoot a sub-300 round on the day as the field remained competitive across the board.
Gachaga's 73 is one shot off her career-low of 72 set last season as she is tied for 30th among the individual standings. She was even after 13 holes after teeing off from 10 before a birdie on hole five moved her to 1-under. She stayed there until a double bogey on her final hole of the day pushed her to 1-over.
She sits in a tie with teammate
Sydney Scraba who added a 3-over 75 to pull even with the 5-over 149. Scraba's day was highlighted by an eagle on the par-four first hole, bringing her to 1-under for the day, before closing round two with the 75.
Thea Wakeford-Wesmann matched Scraba with a 3-over 75 in round two, upping her two-day total to 9-over 144. She holds a two shot lead on
Malena Austerslaatt (11-over 155) and is three strokes better than
Tilde Bocker's 12-over 156 after the duo posted a 77 and 81, respectively, on Monday.
There was a little bit of separation among the team standings in round two but a number still remain within striking distance of a top-10 finish. Little Rock holds a one shot lead on Kansas City (28-over 604) and is one stroke back of Lamar (26-over 602) in 13th. Arkansas Tech (22-over 598) occupies the number 10 spot, one shot ahead of both Missouri State and Houston Baptist (23-over 599), who are tied for 11th.
After shooting 2-under on the day, Western Kentucky holds the team lead at 1-over 577, five shots ahead of Bradley's 6-over 582. UTEP posted the low round of the day with a 3-under 285, thanks in part to Valeria Meendizabal's 7-under 65, and sits third at 9-over 585 with California Baptist (10-over 586) and Jacksonville State (14-over 590) rounding out the top-five.
Tuesday's final round begins with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start as Little Rock will tee off from holes 12-14. The Trojans will play with Lamar and Kansas City over the final 18 holes with live scoring available at
